Designators - Script

A fast and simple solution for silkscreen and assembly drawings in Altium.

Script Features:

• Copy selected Designators to mechanical layer as .designator.
• Deletes existing .designators on mechanical layers to prevent duplicates.
• Modify selected Designators or Designators of selected Components.
• Place Designators on the appropriate Top OverLay or Bottom OverLay layers.
• Fixes any incorrectly mirrored Designators.
• Selectively Hide or UnHide Designators.
• Scale font sizes within user set minimum / maximum height.
• Rotate Designators to 0 or 90 degrees.
• Center Designators.
• Option to use True Fonts or Stoke Fonts.
• Option to Rotate Selected Designators to match the part's rotation.
• Option to Store and Recall preferred height and mechanical Layers.
• Nudge font size buttons.

How to Install and Run Scripts

Extract the files from the Zip file and Install the Script

Note: Altium only allows one script to run at any given time. You must close any open scripts to use find similar in the PCB Inspector.

Enter a minimum and maximum height for the designators or use the defaults.

Uncheck 'Use Stroke Fonts' if you wish to use True Type Fonts. Leave it checked to use Stroke Fonts.  PCB fabricators prefer Stroke Fonts.

Enter your preferred mechanical layers for top and bottom side of assembly drawing.

Select options to Size, Rotate and Center the Designators.

Then select Apply.
