PCB Library - Multiple Object Change

This tip is walks you through how to make changes to all the footprints in an Altium PCB Library.

What is a Multiple Object Change?

Let's say you have a PCB library the does not conform to your preferred layer definitions and you need to move everything on one layer to another layer in the entire library.

Good news!  There is an easy way to move primitives to another layer in the PCBLIB library.

This tip demonstrates how move all Courtyards from Mechanical Layer 15 for every part in the PCB library to another layer.

Open any footprint in your PCBLIB, then Right Click on the screen background and Select Build Query. . .  to bring up Build Query Dialog.

Using the Build Query Dialog, set the Condition Type/ Operator to "Exists on Layer" and set the Condition Value to Mechanical 15.

Check the Whole Library Option, then select OK.

You should now be in the PCBLIB Inspector Dialog.

Select the Layer you wish to move the selected objects to.

If you selected the Whole Library Option you should see a Multiple Object Change Popup.

Select Yes to proceed with the Multiple Object Change.
